Its the first Saturday of the month and I am up bright and early for a meeting. I see you have switched off already…. How boring!
It couldn’t be further from the truth, honest. It’s the monthly meeting of the SLH (Sustainable Living in the Heatons).
Not another meeting I am told as I prepare to leave home. I look forward to this one though. Could it be the free coffee or the ambience at The Moor Top Pub in Heaton Moor?
Well we have 14 SLH ers (is that a word?) That’s a bit of a record turnout I think and all eager to listen to what we have to say.
And in a packed agenda today we have …….
Blimey it is packed, so much so that we don’t have time to discuss the Bat & Bird boxes event in February. Watch this space as we now have a sub group to guide us through the great ongoing projects we are involved with. Oh with more free drinks and hopefully some cake too. That reminds me, our late Christmas meal is due very soon.
The combination of friends in the room vary from old hands, committee members to guests and new members from all over the Heatons. Each having a shared interest and a passion to talk about. Today’s guest speaker is from Heatons Walk Ride.
We have our monthly Hedge working party in Heaton Moor and a new Wildlife are on Didsbury Road. Not forgetting all the bike rides (who fancies pond dipping?). The raised beds we are putting up in and around the Heatons and who wants to know how to prune apple trees?
We are even discussing an exciting new venture called Heatons Climate Action Festival so why not come to the next meeting.
Boring who says it’s boring. No way!
Meetings start at 10.30am sharp and finish at 12pm. Although if it’s this packed it might over run slightly. A small price to pay.
Why not join us and judge for yourself.
